Keep politics out of merger control and limit the use of state subsidies. The scope of the IPCEI instrument should not be broadened to cover costs related to mass production nor merely ensuring European production.
The Confederations of Finnish Industries, Norwegian Enterprise, Danish Industry, Lewiatan (Poland), Empresarial de Portugal, Irish Business, Latvia LDDK Employers and Swedish Enterprise, have written a letter to President Ursula von der Leyen and Vice President Margrethe Vestager in order to highlight certain key issues relating to the ongoing revisions in competition law.
The organisations underline that optimum conditions for business require greater, rather than less, competition. The level of public intervention in the economy should be steadily and gradually reduced, given that the need for crisis support for the economy is decreasing. With the right conditions, European business has every opportunity to assert itself at the highest level in terms of competitiveness and adaptability. Therefore, it is necessary to restore the state aid regulation to its pre-pandemic state as soon as economy allows it.
