Regulatory simplification must become a strategic priority for the EU
The EU’s increased focus on regulatory simplification and the use of omnibus packages is welcome. However, significant work remains to reduce the regulatory burden on businesses. To deliver real results, simplification efforts need to be ambitious, targeted and based on clearly identified problems and the needs of businesses.

Omnibus packages can be an effective tool for addressing problems in existing legislation and removing unnecessary burdens for businesses, but they are not sufficient on their own to deliver meaningful regulatory simplification. Simplification and better regulation must instead be a strategic priority, embedded throughout the entire legislative process, from the development and implementation of legislation to its monitoring and evaluation.
The long-term goal should be to get legislation right from the beginning, so that there is no need to correct it through omnibus packages.
